Today, Alexa’s dad gets back from the United States. His absence has affected her a lot, and she has been waiting – anxiously, I think.​

For a long time, she has woken every morning and said: When my daddy gets back, we’ll be together again. Or: When he gets back, my daddy and I will have breakfast together.​

Breakfast is a chance for Alexa to share things with me. Having breakfast together is important for our connection.​
​
I tell her: Your daddy is coming back, he is going to be with you again. You should feel safe to unleash all those hugs you say you want to give him.​
