Jan, 76BIRTH PARTNER,You've got this.

Listen to their story

I’m waiting for an Uber at the moment to take me to the hospital where my daughter is in the early stages of labour.

I feel very nervous about what I am going to be able to contribute and whether I’m actually just going to be in the way. My youngest daughter is 36, so it’s a long time since I’ve been in that situation.

I’m certainly not squeamish. Blood doesn’t worry me at all. I feel anxious about my own child going through a major experience, which we know is going to be painful and it’s going to be exhausting.

I didn’t expect that my daughter would want to include me. I was absolutely overwhelmed to be asked. It’s a fantastic privilege, a fantastic honor.
