Gladys, 72Opening a care home,You've got this.

Listen to their story

I’m a psychiatric nurse. I was inspired from the care I do to open a new care home, and with a bit of help from my children, we’re opening a new care home today.

We have residents in different mental health categories. It can be unpredictable. People will kick. Sometimes, they spit at you. You don’t take anything personally.

The mornings are very important to me. You plan, you get ready, you run around. Later in the day, you slow down and you can afford to rest. But the mornings – that’s when you gear things up.

It’s a thing of the mind to keep working. So long as the strength is there, God willing, why not keep working? All the motivation is in your brain.
