The last time I went to the gym was before I lost my sight. I drove there, and it was a big, fancy gym with a lot of equipment and a lot of classes.
Today, I’m walking to a local gym because it’s smaller and it will be easier to navigate around. I’m really, really nervous that I’ll walk into someone or something, or hurt myself, and then be too embarrassed to go back.
I’m having porridge with banana and honey. When I’m having my breakfast, I will have something on in front of me to watch. Usually it’s just something that I’ve watched thousands of times. It’s comforting, it’s familiar.
It took me a very, very long time to get to where I am today, but I think I’m doing more with my life now than I was before.
